My girls are at an age where they like to give items of jewellery as gifts for friends, so I decorated this teeny little box with some bright papers to make the gift a bit more special. I started with a clear pillow box, added a strip of purple cardstock with a decorative edge, some very bright stripey paper, a beautiful satin bow, a flower and lastly a little tag. It couldn't be cuter! If I had more patience, these would make terrific wedding favours - but you know me - I’m a one-off type of gal.

Gelatos are a great product to team up with your patterned papers and they come up so well on the white Bazzill cardstock. I have used it here to spray as well as create drips. I love that you can choose any colours as well as blending to compliment the pattern paper you are using.

I used clear embossing to add the image of the butterfly to the tag. It shows the green ink I sponged underneath it, even when I used dark blue Distress Stain over the whole tag. I added little white dots to highlight the image on the tag. The kraft base card was looking a little plain, so I used the Elegant Fronds Background stamp to add some detail to the corners.

This is our second post today.  Please scroll down for another fabulous card from Teresa.

This turned out to be a quick and easy card. The trick was finding a die big enough to cut an entire edge of a cardfront. I used the pattern already printed on the paper to be another decorative feature, making this card just about unisex.

"I love the elegance of a black, white and one other colour card. I didn't want the background image to overpower the rest of the card, so without mounting it on an acrylic block, I simply inked up a part of it and rolled it onto the card front. The result is subtle, with no harsh edges."

"Playing around with acryclic paints, and I came up with this faux copper effect. It turns out so realistic, people will have trouble believing that it's just paint and cardstock!"

Products Used:

Bazzill Basics Cardstock:

9-960D Kraft
7-7116E Simon
10-1037E Blackbird

Spellbinders:

E3D-003 Delightful Daisies

JustRite Stamps:

CR-03885 Grand Sentiments

Other Materials Used:

Blue and Copper acrylic paint
Tsukineko Java Walnut Stain
Black German Glass Glitter

Step 1

Emboss two pieces of cardstock using the new 3D M-Bossabilities Delightful Daisies folder. Fussy cut two daisies, one butterfly and the banner from one piece.

Step 2

Paint all of the pieces with the blue acrylic paint, covering all of the kraft cardstock.

Step 3

Once dry, paint a very light coat of copper paint. This can be left streaky to show some of the blue paint underneath. While it's still wet, wipe over it with a damp paper towel. Allow to dry.

Step 4

Spray lightly with the Walnut ink, and wipe all over the embossed pieces with a dry paper towel. Flick some water droplets onto the piece and watch the water clear spots in the walnut ink layer. (Pic 3 below): See the difference the Walnut Ink has made to the paint finish. It's like a patina.

Step 5

Stamp the sentiment onto the banner. Assemble the card, adding some black German glass glitter to the flower centres.
