Welcome to Tutorial Tuesday.  Today Sue shows how to create velvet roses.

The new Artisan Explorer can cut bulkier items like fabrics, velvet and mesh. You still may need to roll the plates through several times. Don’t worry if it is a little rough around the edges, the heat gun will melt the threads.

Materials Used:

Velvet
Mesh or muslin
Glimmer mists
Stamens
Hot Glue
heat gun
S5-050 Rose Creations

Step 1

Using Spellbinders Rose creations cut out 3 sizes of roses from velvet. You may have to pack extra cardstock and roll through several times to make a good cut. Cut 2 sizes of mesh or muslin as well

Step 2

Thread all layers onto a bunch of stamens. Use a little hot glue to adhere all the stalks together to make it easier.

Step 3

Spritz with Glimmer mist of your choice

Step 4

Dry off with heat gun, to melt frayed edges and deepen colour. You can have a lot of fun using different fabrics and textiles to create wonderful layers, consider using a brad as the centre or even beads and buttons.

This is our second post today.  Please scroll down for another fabulous card from Teresa.

This turned out to be a quick and easy card. The trick was finding a die big enough to cut an entire edge of a cardfront. I used the pattern already printed on the paper to be another decorative feature, making this card just about unisex.

I used the Rose Creation dies to make a flower from calico and organza as a big embellishment for this card. I cut the flowers out then scrunched them up and rolled them for a little while in my hands so that they would fray just a little.

This tiny photo needed some white space around it, or it would have been lost in the busy confetti of the patterned paper. Some tiny little die cuts were added over and around the focal point in order to carry the confetti theme throughout.

Spellbinders dies can be used for so much more than die cutting. Today I’m showing you how to use them to stencil without die cutting to create a great element to your projects

Products Used:

Die of choice
Pan pastels
Wrapping paper

Step 1

To create this stencilling, first take one of the dies in the desired shape and place on your project.

Step 2

I then used some PanPastels to colour the centre of of the die.

Step 3

Next I used my Pastel Pitt pencils to create more of an outline, creating more definition.

Step 4

Continue to add more in different colours as you go.

Instructions:

Choose a set of spellbinder dies that will give you a nice sized shape to work with. I used 3 different sizes ranging from the largest, second largest down to the third largest.

Step One:

Fold your piece of cardstock in half. Place your die under your folded cardstock with the folded edge to the top. Place your die so the top part is out from under your cardstock as shown in diagram, this ensures your 2 pieces will remain joined.

Step Two:

Once you have cut the main card and embossed. Cut just one shape from your die the same size with 1 piece of unfolded cardstock. Once again emboss.

Step Three:

Using your next 2 sized dies and your choice of colours cut 2 of each size one being for the top and one for the bottom and emboss.

Step Four:

Now go back to the first piece we cut and choose which side you want to be your right side whether it be embossed or de-bossed and fold the top half in half towards you. When positioned up this will become your easel to position the top of your card.

Step Five:

Add adhesive tape or glue to the half you have folded down and adhere your 1st single shape you cut to this then layer the shapes you cut alternatively.

Step Eight:

 Embellish to your hearts desire.

TIP: I do my stamping before I adhere the final die cut to the card and embellish once it is altogether.
