The concept of the easel card is quite appealing - it packs flat and yet when it reaches its destination it can be assembled into something dimensional and spectacular. This is a variation on the easel card, where the base shape is a butterfly. When it was finished, I thought it would make a wonderful wedding placecards (for someone with a lot more patience than I have of course!), as the final size is about 10cm wide by 7cm tall.

Products Used:

Bazzill Basics Cardstock:

5-5125D Midge

 Spellbinders:

 LF-006 Wonderful Wings
S3-205 Petite Labels One

 Other Materials Used:

Pink roses
KaiserCraft pearls
Copic marker RV25
StampIt Thank you stamp

 Step 1

Make a crisp fold in some cardstock, and place the folded edge about 2mm inside the cutting edge of the butterfly shadow die. Cut out the butterfly shape - you will end up with a little butterfly card with the fold at the top of the wings.

 Step 2

Bring the bottom wings of the front butterfly up toward the fold.

 Step 3

Cut another butterfly shadow shape out and adhere the top half of this to the folded wings.

 Step 4

Stamp a sentiment and cut around it with the Petite Labels die.

 Step 5

Adhere this to the inside of the card with a foam dot, and tuck the top part of the card behind it to stop it from closing.

Step 6

Embellish with a butterfly die cut, some little roses and some pearls.

 Step 7

This card will flatten out nicely for posting.

More than one person has commented on how much my daughter Rachel looks like me. In this photo, with our hair tied back and wearing black coats, I can see it. For this layout I used the Grateful Lattice die to make a stencil from thin plastic, through which I brushed some acrylic paint. This made a base for the rest of the layout to take shape. I added some black machine stitching here and there to help the stark black coats blend a little better into the layout.

Step One:

Choose coordinating papers I used just 2 different colours of Bazzill but you can use whatever you like. Using your first piece which needs to be 12x12 which we will make the card out of. Cut it in half leaving you with a piece 12” long and 6”high.

Score the base piece so that you have three equal sections.

Step Two:

Cut the two outside sections on the diagonal as pictured.

Step Three:

Cut and emboss two triangles in another colour of Bazzill and adhere to the card base as pictured.

Step Four:

Secure the flaps using double sided tape

Step Five:

Decorate the front as desired

Step Six:

Make an insert and decorate as desired.
